A Reminder and a Resource

I have a quick reminder and a short resource to share with you in today’s blog post.

The Reminder:

Summer break is over, and the kids are back in school. Labor Day is behind us, and the new football season has begun. You know what that means? It is time to settle in for Fall and Winter.

This time of year is also the time to plan on attending the WARBC Annual Conference. We are meeting in Wisconsin Rapids on October 20 and 21st to blaze the new year for the WARBC, as well as feast on instruction from Dr. Thad Bergmeier of EveryEthne. If you have not registered yet, please do so as soon as possible so we can be best prepared for a great conference.

A quick note about the cost: We opted to charge a small fee because of the extra expenses of bringing in an outside speaker. In recent years, WARBC pastors have presented at the conference with no honorarium or travel reimbursement. That made sense because we are family. But when we bring in an outside person, we should not expect them to cover their travel expenses, and we ought to give him a token of our appreciation in the form of an honorarium. So, the small registration fee helps accomplish those goals.

Having said that, if finances are tight, we still want you to come to the conference. Send me a note at jeremy@warbc.org, and I will see to it that you are able to attend the conference.

The Resource:

I am currently reading Peter Williams’ short book The Surprising Genius of Jesus: What the Gospels Reveal about the Greatest Teacher. Williams uses the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15 to show what a master teacher Jesus was/is. It is a fascinating read.

The book is less than 150 pages long and well worth your time! And it is less than $15 on Amazon – skip a trip to McD’s, and you paid for it! :-)

I hope to see you at the conference. And if I do, let’s discuss William’s book!
